Floyd ] Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Scotland, 1594: Floyd | The sea spray blasts your face, as you stand on the exposed Floyd | clifftop, Floyd | looking towards Fast Castle on the outcrop ahead. Your master Floyd | stands Floyd | beside you, leaning heavily on his stick, seemingly deep in Floyd | thought. Floyd | Little wonder, given what faces him in there. What a hellish place. Floyd | You pause to remember what Napier told you about the reasons for Floyd | this Floyd | visit ... Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Please press SPACE to continue. | DavidW asks (of KO), "Did you want to drive or should I?"
Knight_Otu pushes the green 'space' button.
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | Floyd | Napier's Cache Floyd | An Interactive Scottish Historical Adventure by Vivienne Dunstan Floyd | Release 1 / Serial number 200328 / Inform 7 build 6M62 (I6/v6.33 Floyd | lib Floyd | 6/12N) Floyd | Floyd | Workshop Floyd | This room in Napier's home, Gartness Castle, is where he spends Floyd | most Floyd | of his waking hours, working on numerous projects and conducting Floyd | strange experiments. Beside one wall, a desk and chair sit, the Floyd | desk Floyd | covered with papers lying haphazardly on the surface, though Floyd | somehow Floyd | Napier always finds what he is looking for. A cupboard provides Floyd | storage, and, on the floor, a rich rug provides warmth, one of the Floyd | few Floyd | signs of conventional comfort. A small window is the only source of Floyd | natural light, though your master usually works late at night, Floyd | burning Floyd | many a candle. Through a stone archway a staircase leads down to Floyd | the Floyd | floors below. A ladder is propped up near one wall, leading up to Floyd | an Floyd | opening in the ceiling. Floyd | Floyd | You can see a handwritten note here. Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu says, "I can drive."
DavidW says, "go for it"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get not"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > GET NOT Floyd | Floyd | You can't see any such thing. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get note"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > GET NOTE Floyd | Floyd | Taken. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "read it"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > READ IT Floyd | Floyd | Written in your master's barely legible handwriting, this is a list Floyd | of Floyd | the items he needs you to find to take on the trip to Berwickshire. Floyd | They are his grimoire, crystal ball, wooden chest, alchemical Floyd | supplies Floyd | and his familiar. Floyd | Floyd | > | Jacqueline asks, "Huh. Weird line breaking. Was our game last week doing that?"
Knight_Otu says, "I think so."
Knight_Otu says, "But I'm not 100% sure."
Jacqueline says, "fwiw, I'm also okay with us consulting DW's notes or our prior transcript to catch up to where we were."
DavidW says, "It's probably because ClubFloyd is 4 characters longer than Floyd."
Jacqueline exclaims (at DW), "You're right!"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x window"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > X WINDOW Floyd | Floyd | Gazing through the window you see the Stirlingshire countryside Floyd | outside, and wish you were out there, not stuck in here. But then Floyd | you Floyd | notice something on the window sill: a curious shape. You approach, Floyd | and realise that it is a glass globe, your master's crystal ball. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "The crystal ball is on the window."
Knight_Otu says, "Oh, that would make sense."
DavidW says, "The box of alchemy is in the cupboard."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get globe"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > GET GLOBE Floyd | Floyd | You pick up the crystal ball carefully, reminded again of its Floyd | surprising weight, and its unnerving power to pull your gaze Floyd | within. Floyd | Your master uses it to divine and scry for information. You do not Floyd | understand how it works; it must be some strange power. You Floyd | shudder, Floyd | and put the object carefully on the desk, ready for the journey to Floyd | Fast Castle. Perhaps he will find it useful there, in the hunt for Floyd | the Floyd | castle's hidden treasure. Floyd | Floyd | > | Jacqueline wonders, "Should maybe shorten his name to Cloyd..."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "open cupboard"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > OPEN CUPBOARD Floyd | Floyd | You open the cupboard, revealing an ornate wooden box. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "Search the books upstairs for the grimoire. Look under the bed downstairs."
Knight_Otu says, "That sounds wrong."
DavidW says, "And wave the lure at the bird."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get box"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > GET BOX Floyd | Floyd | You carefully pull out the highly ornate wooden box of alchemical Floyd | supplies, chemicals and glassware, taking care not to damage its Floyd | precious contents. There is a scientific method to much that your Floyd | master does. He is highly skilled in techniques in chemistry, Floyd | natural Floyd | philosophy and biology, as well as in alchemy. But always alongside Floyd | the more rational scientific approaches runs something darker, less Floyd | acceptable to the authorities even in these dangerous times, Floyd | something Floyd | that your master's "clients" like Logan of Restalrig know full well Floyd | when they hire him to work for them. You decide to put the box on Floyd | the Floyd | desk for now, rather than carry it around. Floyd | Floyd | > | Jacqueline says (to KO), "It really does sound wrong. I agree."
Jacqueline says, "But maybe CFloyd."
Knight_Otu asks, "Where was the lure again?"
Jacqueline says, "Or Phloyd."
DavidW says, "I think search the papers on the desk here."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x papers"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > X PAPERS Floyd | Floyd | A disorganised mess of varied sheets of paper, all covered with Floyd | Napier's scribbles. You wonder, yet again, how he ever finds any Floyd | old Floyd | notes again. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "search them"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > SEARCH THEM Floyd | Floyd | You consider looking through the papers, but Napier is obsessive Floyd | about Floyd | what he writes on them, and their haphazard order. So you leave Floyd | them Floyd | alone. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "u"
Floyd ] Library Floyd | > Floyd | > U Floyd | Floyd | You climb carefully up the ladder to the library. Floyd | Floyd | Library Floyd | It is no wonder your master sends you up to fetch the books now. Floyd | Climbing that ladder is hazardous enough for anyone. This is a Floyd | cramped Floyd | space, squeezed into the top of the castle turret, with a rickety Floyd | ladder leading down to the workshop below. Gaps in the roof Floyd | structure Floyd | allow shafts of light to slant through, but the room is just about Floyd | watertight. Piles of books lie all around, in no particular order. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "search books"
Floyd ] Library Floyd | > Floyd | > SEARCH BOOKS Floyd | Floyd | You search thoroughly through the books, and after ages are about Floyd | to Floyd | give up, then you spot something important poking out from one Floyd | pile. Floyd | You carefully ease it out. It is your master's grimoire. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "Maybe it's just on the desk."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get grimoire"
Floyd ] Library Floyd | > Floyd | > GET GRIMOIRE Floyd | Floyd | You reach over for the grimoire, struck again by its weight and Floyd | heft. Floyd | It is just one of many books that Napier uses to research solutions Floyd | to Floyd | problems, but it is by far his most precious, containing notes and Floyd | spells collected over many years. It is a large leather-bound Floyd | volume, Floyd | with a black cover, and his family crest on the front. The pages Floyd | inside are fragile, and bear the signs of much use. All are covered Floyd | with his rapid handwriting, as well as writing in other hands that Floyd | you Floyd | do not recognise. Floyd | Floyd | You do not think the volume contains much information about Robert Floyd | Logan of Restalrig, who invited your master to Berwickshire on this Floyd | latest quest, though there may be some notes about Logan's ancestry Floyd | and his connections with various noble and royal families. However, Floyd | the grimoire will certainly contain other information that may help Floyd | on Floyd | the spot there. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "d"

Floyd | Floyd | On Napier's desk are an ornate wooden box and a round ball of Floyd | multi-coloured glass. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "search desk"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > SEARCH DESK Floyd | Floyd | You cast your eyes over your master's desk. As well as a messy pile Floyd | of Floyd | varied papers, all covered in his handwriting, you spot a corded Floyd | rope Floyd | lure that he uses for his pet bird. Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu says, "There it is."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get lure"
Floyd ] Workshop Floyd | > Floyd | > GET LURE Floyd | Floyd | Taken. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "oh, search DESK not search PAPERS."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "d"
Floyd ] Bedroom Floyd | > Floyd | > D Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Bedroom Floyd | Napier's bedroom is a large room, but largely empty beyond the Floyd | modest Floyd | bed in the middle of the room, and clearly little used, certainly Floyd | no Floyd | more than necessary. Through a stone arch, the staircase of the Floyd | tower Floyd | runs up and down. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "look under bed"
Floyd ] Bedroom Floyd | > Floyd | > LOOK UNDER BED Floyd | Floyd | You kneel down and look under the bed. Yes, there is something Floyd | there. Floyd | You reach in, and drag something out. It is a chest. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get chest"
Floyd ] Bedroom Floyd | > Floyd | > GET CHEST Floyd | Floyd | You pull the chest towards you, and throw it open. The smell of old Floyd | wood and something else that you can't quite put your finger on Floyd | assails you. This is the chest that Napier always takes on journeys Floyd | and research trips, to store his equipment. Though of course it is Floyd | you, the assistant, who has to carry it about. You know that where Floyd | you Floyd | are going, Fast Castle, is remote and isolated, lashed by the waves Floyd | and balanced precariously over the North Sea. You will have to make Floyd | sure that Napier has all that he might need there, and the chest Floyd | will Floyd | be put to good use. You close the chest for now, relieved to have Floyd | found it, ready for this latest journey. It is heavy, so you leave Floyd | it Floyd | on the floor here for now. At least you know where it is. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "d"
Floyd ] Servants' Area Floyd | > Floyd | > D Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Servants' Area Floyd | This simple unfurnished space leads from the tower Napier Floyd | appropriated Floyd | for his own use through the servant rooms to the more comfortable Floyd | sections intended for the family. Steps lead back up to Napier's Floyd | rooms, and an arched doorway leads east to the rest of the castle. Floyd | Floyd | You can see a maid and a large black bird here. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "wave lure"
Floyd | > Floyd | > WAVE LURE Floyd | Floyd | You wave the lure towards the bird, and attract its attention. It Floyd | flies over to you, and seems willing to go with you, perhaps Floyd | realising Floyd | that its master needs it to do this. You shudder as it approaches, Floyd | reminded how much you despise it. Undoubtedly the truest physical Floyd | representation of your master's dark arts, this jet black bird Floyd | strikes Floyd | terror into all others who see it. Servants and neighbours mutter Floyd | darkly of it, and even the local parish minister has preached Floyd | against Floyd | it none too subtly in the kirk pulpit. Yet your master seems to Floyd | find Floyd | it helpful, even if all others loathe it. You now carry the bird. Floyd | Floyd | Just as you locate the last item on the list, Napier appears, a Floyd | flurry Floyd | of black cloak and long beard. "Ah you found everything we need. Floyd | Good! Floyd | We must leave soon for Fast Castle, though whether we will find the Floyd | treasure Logan seeks I am not so sure. I certainly hope so. The Floyd | reward Floyd | would be great." Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Please press SPACE to continue. | DavidW says, "And now for new stuff"
Knight_Otu pushes the green 'space' button.
CFloyd ] Dining Room | ||
CFloyd | Some days later, you arrive at Fast Castle. Soon after entering the
CFloyd | castle your master is admitted to the presence of Robert Logan. You
CFloyd | accompany him. | ||
CFloyd | | ||
CFloyd | Dining Room | ||
CFloyd | This modestly-sized room is somewhat claustrophobic, an effect only
CFloyd | slightly relieved by the candles burning rather erratically on the
CFloyd | table in the middle of the room. Chairs for diners surround the
CFloyd | table, | ||
CFloyd | and you see plates of food.
CFloyd | | ||
CFloyd | You can see John Napier of Merchiston, Sir Robert Logan of
CFloyd | Restalrig | ||
CFloyd | and Francis Stewart, Earl of Bothwell here.
CFloyd | | ||
CFloyd | "Sit down man!" says Logan brusquely. Clearly addressing Napier.
CFloyd | Logan | ||
CFloyd | pays you no attention. You might as well be invisible.
CFloyd | | ||
CFloyd | > | Jacqueline says, "Hrm. Still not enough."
Jacqueline asks, "Better, though?"
Knight_Otu says, "A bit better, yeah."
Jacqueline says, "I could just make it, like, CF."
Knight_Otu says, "Hm."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x napier"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X NAPIER Floyd | Floyd | Your master is tall and imposing, with a fiercely intelligent gaze. Floyd | Now in his forties, his brown hair and long beard are speckled with Floyd | grey. He wears his usual outfit: a long, black robe. Often he Floyd | reminds Floyd | you more of a rook than a man. Floyd | Floyd | Your master sits down. You stay standing, just behind him. "My Floyd | lords, Floyd | greetings," says Napier, nodding to both men in turn. Floyd | Floyd | > | Jacqueline says, "Huh."
DavidW says, "I played out this dining room scene. It's a bit tense."
Jacqueline says, "Nope."
Jacqueline says, "I'm not sure that's the issue, DW."
Knight_Otu says, "Odd that."
DavidW says (to Jacqueline), "hm. I wonder the issue is, then."
Jacqueline says, "I do like the look of CF"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x logan"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X LOGAN Floyd | Floyd | Tall and red-haired, the laird of Restalrig and also, of course, of Floyd | Fast Castle is smartly dressed, in trousers, shirt, jacket and even Floyd | a Floyd | ruff. At times you catch a brief glimpse of a sheathed blade, and Floyd | remember how dangerous people say this man can be, however elegant Floyd | his Floyd | attire here may be. Floyd | Floyd | There is an explosion of laughter from the man you recognise as the Floyd | Earl of Bothwell. "Dinnae stand on ceremony man, even if it is good Floyd | that you know your betters. Who's this with you, Napier?" asks the Floyd | Earl, looking keenly at you. Floyd | Floyd | > | Jacqueline says, "It's easier to skim"
Knight_Otu says, "May take a bit to get used to it."
Jacqueline says, "(Sorry. I'm focusing on the game now. Honest.)"
DavidW says, "Examine the 3rd man there."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x stewart"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X STEWART Floyd | Floyd | Smaller than his cousin Logan, Francis, Earl of Bothwell is of Floyd | medium Floyd | size, with dark hair, and slight build. You look at him Floyd | uncertainly, Floyd | wondering if he has inherited any of the character of his notorious Floyd | uncle, Queen Mary's ill-fated last husband. But then you remember Floyd | that Floyd | he was recently outlawed by King James, so it is somewhat Floyd | surprising Floyd | to find him here. Floyd | Floyd | "My apprentice, your lordship," says your master. "Bow to the Floyd | lords!" Floyd | he whispers sideways to you. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "bow"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > BOW Floyd | Floyd | Logan of Restalrig smiles grimly as you bow before him. You think Floyd | he Floyd | approves. Floyd | Floyd | Bothwell laughs again, but Logan looks fierce. "You are lucky to Floyd | meet Floyd | my cousin Bothwell here," says Logan, nodding towards the Earl. Floyd | "But Floyd | tell no-one else he is here, or else!" and he makes a slicing Floyd | motion Floyd | across his throat. You quake with fear, and shake your head Floyd | vigorously. You will tell no-one. Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu says, "Eep."
DavidW says, "Until years later, you make the episode into a work of IF, of course."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x table"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X TABLE Floyd | Floyd | Made from a dark wood, the long table provides eating space for up Floyd | to Floyd | eight diners. Floyd | Floyd | There is a sudden sound of something falling over. Glancing to the Floyd | table, you see that Napier has knocked over his glass of wine. Floyd | Fortunately it was only part full, but a pool of red starts to Floyd | spread Floyd | across the table. "Clean it up then!" barks Logan at you, while Floyd | your Floyd | master trembles in terror. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "clean table"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > CLEAN TABLE Floyd | Floyd | You don't have anything to hand to clean up the spill with. Perhaps Floyd | there is something useful on the table? Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "Examine the table again. There's something new."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x table"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X TABLE Floyd | Floyd | Made from a dark wood, the long table provides eating space for up Floyd | to Floyd | eight diners. You notice a napkin lying on the table. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "get napkin"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > GET NAPKIN Floyd | Floyd | Taken. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "clean table"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > CLEAN TABLE Floyd | Floyd | Using the napkin you mop up the wine spill as best you can. Logan Floyd | glowers throughout, while Bothwell laughs and Napier trembles with Floyd | fear. Finally, you right the wine glass again, and step back. Floyd | "Anyway Floyd | to business!" says Logan fiercely, leaning to refill Napier's glass Floyd | with wine, while at the same time staring sternly at Napier. Floyd | "Treasure! Yes you are here to find my missing fortune, supposedly Floyd | hidden somewhere in the castle a century ago." Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu says, "What a pleasant fellow."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x food"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X FOOD Floyd | Floyd | The food served is a mix of meats, including game, and vegetables. Floyd | Floyd | "Is the story reliable, my lord?" asks your master tentatively. "Of Floyd | course I am happy to look ..." Floyd | "There's the challenge Robert!" says Bothwell, laughing again. "Oh Floyd | you're right man," he continues, looking at Napier. "It's a legend, Floyd | no Floyd | more, but surely worth looking for. Possibly French gold, aye Floyd | Robert?" Floyd | Logan nods. "Or English silver," says Logan, "supposedly somewhere Floyd | in Floyd | the castle depths." He strokes his chin thoughtfully. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "I'm worried that if Napier doesn't find the treasure, Logan will claim US instead."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x chairs"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X CHAIRS Floyd | Floyd | A number of chairs sit around the table. Floyd | Floyd | "Well yes, I can look," says Napier carefully. "And hopefully I Floyd | will Floyd | find the treasure." Then a pause. "But if I don't find it, I must Floyd | have Floyd | your guarantee that I can leave safely, and unharmed." He looks Floyd | shakily towards Logan. Bothwell watches, keen to see what his Floyd | temperamental cousin will say. Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu says, "Oh dear, what a prospect."
DavidW asks, "Napier will go safe. But will we, a mere apprentice?"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x candles"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X CANDLES Floyd | Floyd | The candles around the edge of the room flicker, as they provide Floyd | much-needed illumination. Floyd | Floyd | "Och man, have no fear," says Logan. "We agreed in that contract Floyd | you Floyd | drew up. And I give you my word." But his expression is cold, Floyd | especially his eyes. You feel scared, and worried. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x eyes"
Floyd ] Dining Room Floyd | > Floyd | > X EYES Floyd | Floyd | You can't see any such thing. Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu says, "Aw."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "wait"
Floyd | > Floyd | > WAIT Floyd | Floyd | Time passes. Floyd | Floyd | There is an awkward silence, that lasts for an uncomfortable length Floyd | of Floyd | time. Then Bothwell claps his hands together. "Go on then man! And Floyd | may Floyd | God be with you in your hunt." Napier rises, stepping backwards Floyd | from Floyd | the table. "My lords ..." he says, bowing again, before leaving the Floyd | room. You follow closely behind. Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Floyd | Please press SPACE to continue.
Knight_Otu pushes the green 'space' button.
Floyd ] Cellar Floyd | After a night of poor sleep, you accompany your master to start to Floyd | search for the hidden treasure. An ancient but surprisingly Floyd | sprightly Floyd | servant, Ralph, leads you both down to the cellar, while you drag Floyd | your Floyd | master's chest behind you. The further down you go, the darker Floyd | things Floyd | get, and you soon need the light from the lantern Ralph is carrying Floyd | to Floyd | see properly. Floyd | Floyd | Cellar Floyd | This cellar is roughly cut into the stone of the rock the castle Floyd | sits Floyd | on. It is not a large space, but probably large enough for the Floyd | storage Floyd | needs of this small castle. In the nooks and crannies around here Floyd | you Floyd | glimpse bottles of wine, barrels of ale and other supplies. Floyd | Floyd | You can see a heavy wooden chest (closed), Ralph and John Napier of Floyd | Merchiston here. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x ralph"
Floyd ] Cellar Floyd | > Floyd | > X RALPH Floyd | Floyd | Ralph is an old castle servant, probably in his fifties or so, and Floyd | rather bent over with age. You wonder what secrets he has witnessed Floyd | over the years. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x napier"
Floyd ] Cellar Floyd | > Floyd | > X NAPIER Floyd | Floyd | Your master is tall and imposing, with a fiercely intelligent gaze. Often he Floyd | reminds Floyd | you more of a rook than a man. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x chest"
Floyd ] Cellar Floyd | > Floyd | > X CHEST Floyd | Floyd | About three foot wide by two foot deep and another two foot tall, Floyd | this Floyd | wooden chest is relatively compact and eminently suitable for Floyd | travelling purposes. Floyd | Floyd | "Get my alchemical kit out!" says your master, suddenly. Ralph Floyd | looks Floyd | alarmed for a moment, while Napier glares fiercely around. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "open chest"
Floyd ] Cellar Floyd | > Floyd | > OPEN CHEST Floyd | Floyd | You open the heavy wooden chest, revealing a round ball of Floyd | multi-coloured glass and an ornate wooden box. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "give box to napier"
Floyd ] Cellar Floyd | > Floyd | > GIVE BOX TO NAPIER Floyd | Floyd | (first taking the ornate wooden box) Floyd | Napier grunts some words of gratitude, and takes the box. He lays Floyd | it Floyd | carefully down, and throws it open, revealing the mass of Floyd | mysterious Floyd | chemicals and containers inside. He takes out a number of small Floyd | glass Floyd | jars. "Och, but we need oil!" He turns to Ralph. "Do you have any Floyd | in Floyd | the castle, man?" Ralph nods, mutely, seemingly uneasy at what Floyd | Napier Floyd | is doing. "Go with him to fetch some," says Napier to you urgently. Floyd | "Here, take this." He hands you a glass jar to carry the oil. Ralph Floyd | turns, then remembers to hand the lantern to Napier. Ralph steps Floyd | back, Floyd | into the semi-shadow, and beckons to you to follow him back up into Floyd | the castle. Floyd | Floyd | >
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "follow ralph"
Floyd ] Kitchen Floyd | > Floyd | > FOLLOW RALPH Floyd | Floyd | You follow Ralph back up a gloomy winding staircase of rough-cut Floyd | stones. You watch carefully as he steps ahead, and are confident Floyd | that Floyd | you can remember the route back. The walls beside you here are wet Floyd | and Floyd | glistening, reminding you of the castle's dangerous location above Floyd | the Floyd | wild North Sea. Shortly the light increases, and you emerge into Floyd | the Floyd | kitchen area. "Just wait here a moment, and I will fill this jar up Floyd | with oil," says Ralph, taking the jar, and scurrying off through a Floyd | doorway to the east. Floyd | Floyd | Kitchen Floyd | A gloomy stone-lined chamber, this is where the castle's food is Floyd | prepared. A fire and hearth are in one wall, with a chimney Floyd | reaching Floyd | up. A table is pushed against the opposite wall, and pots, pans and Floyd | cooking utensils hang around. Exits lead to the west and east, and Floyd | you Floyd | can smell fresh air from both directions. Steps lead back down to Floyd | the Floyd | castle cellar. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW says, "This is as far as I played."
DavidW says, "I didn't examine the kitchen at all."
Knight_Otu says, "Entering new territory now."
Knight_Otu says, "I have a feeling tarrying will not be good."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "SAVE"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "cf5"

Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x table"
Floyd ] Kitchen Floyd | > Floyd | > X TABLE Floyd | Floyd | The kitchen table is empty, ready for cooking later. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW asks, "Well, yeah, what if we're ordered to something else while waiting for Ralph?"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x utensils"
Floyd ] Kitchen Floyd | > Floyd | > X UTENSILS Floyd | Floyd | The utensils look to be comprehensive, though you are too Floyd | unfamiliar Floyd | with cooking to be able to identify them all. Floyd | Floyd | > | DavidW asks, "Or if Ralph never returns?"
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "x chimney"
Floyd ] Kitchen Floyd | > Floyd | > X CHIMNEY Floyd | Floyd | A fire burns brightly in the hearth in the kitchen, providing both Floyd | heat and a way of cooking the food for the castle. A chimney Floyd | stretches Floyd | upwards. Floyd | Floyd | "Ah there you are!" says Ralph, returning. "Here you are," he says, Floyd | handing you the jar, now full of oil. "You should get back to your Floyd | master with that." Or alternatively perhaps you could take the Floyd | chance Floyd | to explore the castle a bit more first? Ralph scurries off, Floyd | muttering Floyd | something about not being witness to ungodly things. Floyd | Floyd | > | Knight_Otu asks, "Could we really take the chance?"
DavidW says, "I think it would be prudent to return with the oil, honestly."
Jacqueline says, "There you are! Here you are."
Knight_Otu asks, "What if we run into Logan?"
Jacqueline says, "Also, sorry, my internet flaked out and I was gone for a bit but I am back."
DavidW says, "Imagine if we spill oil on some carpet somewher."
Knight_Otu says (to ClubFloyd), "d"
