ClubFloyd Transcript:
Code Name Silver Steel by Special Agent
Under the Sea by Heike Borchers
As played on ifMUD on September 13, 2020

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Code Name Silver Steel written by Special Agent, and Under the Sea written by Heike Borchers. Code Name Silver Steel was released independently in 2017. Under the Sea was released as part of the 2019 IFComp, in which it took 20th place. You can learn more about the games, including how to download them, by visiting the IFDB pages: Code Name Silver Steel, and Under the Sea.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing these games, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played these games, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

CF |
CF | A freelance spy is a great job. It pays well and you get to travel to
CF | new and interesting places. Unless you get caught, that part is not so
CF | great.
CF |
CF | You open the unmarked envelope and unfold the mission briefing
CF | enclosed within: Infiltrate MegaCorp, gain access to the data
CF | centre, download the database.
CF |
CF | So here you are, standing in the foyer of MegaCorp, disguised as a
CF | repairman.
CF |
CF | Code Name Silver Steel
CF | An Interactive Fiction by Special Agent
CF | Release 3 / Serial number 170619 / Inform 7 build 6M62 (I6/v6.33 lib
CF | 6/12N)
CF |
CF | Foyer
CF | You are in the spacious foyer of the MegaCorp Building. The room gives
CF | you the feeling of businesslike detachment.
CF |
CF | You are standing by the reception desk in the centre of the room, a
CF | small receptionist is sitting behind it.
CF |
CF | To the north is an elevator, and a door beside it.
CF |
CF | (New players should type HELP. To see the list of testers, type
CF | CREDITS)
CF |
CF | You can see a receptionist here.
CF |
CF | > Jacqueline asks, "Wrong channel?"
MoyTW asks, "Help?"
Jacqueline says, "ILAC"

CF ] Foyer
CF |
CF | > HELP
CF |
CF | Interactive fiction tells you the beginning of a story. Then it puts
CF | you in charge and lets you decide what your character should do. You
CF | type the commands your character should carry out, and the story
CF | replies by telling you what happens next.
CF |
CF | Moving: GO NORTH, GO N, N, S, E, W.
CF | GO UP, DOWN, to use stairs and ladders.
CF | Looking: LOOK around the room.
CF | EXAMINE THE KEY, abbrv to X KEY.
CF | Items: TAKE THE KEY or GET KEY. DROP THE KEY.
CF | INVENTORY, abbrv to I, shows what you are carrying.
CF | PUT THE CUP ON THE TABLE.
CF | Clothing: WEAR THE JACKET. REMOVE THE HAT.
CF | Doors: OPEN THE DOOR. UNLOCK THE DOOR WITH THE BRASS KEY.
CF | People: GIVE THE KEY TO MARGARET.
CF | SHOW THE MAP TO THE ANCIENT MAN.
CF | ASK THE GHOST ABOUT THE ACCIDENT.

CF |
CF | Some weeks ago at your Adventurers' Society back in London, Keira, the
CF | rather cute librarian, mentioned a rumour about a mysterious map
CF | buried on a tiny island with a single palm tree somewhere in the
CF | Caribbean. Supposedly, the map would lead to the treasure of the

CF | The octopus waves its tentacles: "Not so greedy, young adventurer.
CF | Rules dictate that you take the items one by one out of the chest."

CF |
CF | You take the locket. At that moment, the treasure chest and all its
CF | remaining contents seem to lose their colour. Within seconds, they
CF | turn into dull, hard rock.
CF |
CF | The octopus smiles faintly. "You have made your choice, and this
CF | reveals more about you than any riddle can. This is the true treasure
CF | of the Santa Tortosa. My task is complete, and I look forward to
CF | finally roaming the reefs again. You may exit now. Farewell!"

CF | (1) The dwellers of the sea are as calm and peaceful as the ocean.
CF | The octopus sentinel stood its ground and guarded the treasure without
CF | harming or threatening me. When I found the password everything was as
CF | it was meant to be.
CF |
CF | (2) Only the huge octopus stood between me and the treasure. This
CF | dreadful sentinel had guarded the chest for centuries; no living being
CF | had ever overcome it. Great courage and cunning were necessary to get
CF | past it and snatch the treasure out of its menacing tentacles!

CF | Deep Blue
CF | You are in deep blue water. Here, in the dark ocean, you see a wreck:
CF | the sunken galleon Santa Tortosa. At the side of the wreck you see a
CF | hatchway. You can enter the wreck. To the east lies the plankton
CF | rendezvous. To the north you can see the reef top.
CF |
CF | The napoleonfish is here.

CF | On the lonely beach stands a single palm tree. Little spots of

CF | Your ship has returned, anchoring close to the lagoon. Your wristwatch
CF | displays a final message: BOARD vessel to return to London, report
CF | to Adventurers' Society, and complete mission.

CF |
CF | Your journey home is pleasantly uneventful.
CF |
CF | As soon as your feet touch British soil again, they take you to Keira
CF | the librarian, who is overjoyed at the beautiful locket you present to
CF | her. Giving the treasure away in this manner without appraisal of its
CF | monetary or historical value may not have been the best move for your
CF | career or financial situation, but it opens her heart to you, and you
CF | fall madly in love with each other.
CF |
CF | When you return your scuba gear and wristwatch to the Quartermaster,
CF | she is both amazed at your intelligence and a little annoyed that you
CF | had no need at all to use her latest invention, the built-in
CF | analytical engine, for any clues.
CF |
CF | Two weeks later, you receive a formal invitation letter to speak
CF | before your fellow members at the Adventurers' Society.
CF |
CF | Your presentation amazes and excites the audience. When you finish
CF | your report, the applause is overwhelming.
CF |
CF | Later, at the bar, you hear two esteemed members of the Society
CF | talking and praising both your courage and talent to spice up stories.
CF | They look forward to your future reports. If you continue to prove
CF | yourself, they might even consider proposing you for the Society's
CF | Hall of Fame. That is something you have been working towards for a
