ClubFloyd Transcript:
Luna Gardens by Justin Kim
As played on ifMUD on August 13, 2023

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Luna Gardens written by Justin Kim. Luna Gardens was released as part of the 2023 IntroComp, in which it took third place. It was also an entrant in the 2024 Spring Thing Back Garden. You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

CF | Your legs emit dull aches that tell you to slow down. It's normal
CF | after walking around for awhile. Sometimes your mind fixates on
CF | wandering to forget its troubles; it ends up forgetting the body, too.
CF |
CF | You sit on a small bench and feel the night air brush against your
CF | skin. It's one of many art installations around the university and one
CF | of the few you can sit on without being yelled at.
CF |
CF | Various green plants rise and lap in the breeze around you. They
CF | overlap each other, forming small walls that protect you from
CF | passersby's gazes.
CF |
CF | For a moment, they shield you from the things outside of this little
CF | garden. Your shoulders loosen because everything they carry don't
CF | exist here. In the Garden of Eden trivial matters such as school,
CF | caring for your parents, and love stay outside.
CF |
CF | PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE. Jade says, "I have been playing if all the afternoon and am really tired today"
DavidW pushes the green 'space' button.

CF |
CF | The Garden of Eden - Night
CF | You sit on a bench in a confined garden.
CF |
CF | If inspiration strikes, you can always write it down in your journal.
CF | And there's never anything wrong with asking for HELP.
CF |
CF | Exotic plants in different shapes and sizes sway with the breeze. Palm
CF | leaves tickle the air, bay laurels stand in silence, and dwarf myrtles
CF | rise from the earth.
CF |
CF | The little fountain lying near your feet makes you want to chuckle-
CF | But its quaintness holds you back.
CF |
CF | The combined smells of jasmine, daffodils, mint, and everything else
CF | overwhelm your brain's olfactory receptors. A particular flower
CF | catches your eye.
CF |
CF | > Jacqueline says, "Hm. Plants lapping in the breeze. Interesting visual."

CF |

CF | absence of anything except this moment. She mentions her name: Maya.
