CF | The Wolf | ||
CF | An official fairy-tale deposition by Leo Weinreb
CF | Release 1 / Serial number 240430 / Inform 7 v10.1.2
CF | | ||
CF | Forest | ||
CF | I was majestically traipsing through a dark, foreboding forest, as an
CF | intelligent wolf often does. A path lay eastward. And I freely admit,
CF | officer... I was rather hungry.
CF | | ||
CF | All of a sudden, I heard a rustling in the bushes. It was my friend
CF | Tonya, the Tutorial Tiger. Tonya murmured a greeting and then started
CF | in on her usual spiel. "Hello, gentle reader," she purred,
CF | seemingly to no-one in particular. "And welcome to the wonderful
CF | world of interactive fiction. I should first off warn you that this
CF | game does include some violence. Would you like to go through a short
CF | tutorial on how to play?"
CF | | ||
CF | A simple yes-or-no question, and I knew the only answer I could give
CF | was | DavidW asks, "Do we want to hear the tutorial?"
Pinkunz says, "Cute way of introducing a tutorial, ngl."
Pinkunz says, "Up to you."

CF | > NO | ||
CF | | ||
CF | Tonya grinned widely, showing her teeth. "Grrrreat!" she
CF | exclaimed. "I'll leave you to it then, but you can always type
CF | TUTORIAL ON if you change your mind. Before I go, let me just say that
CF | the verbs used in this game are limited. In this game, you only use
CF | the commands TALK TO, LOOK, EXAMINE, SMELL, EAT/DRINK, BLOW ON,
CF | PUSH/PULL, OPEN/CLOSE, ENTER/EXIT, ATTACK, and the cardinal
CF | directions. You can attack with or without a weapon, but you do not
CF | need to take something before attacking with it. (In fact, you can't
CF | take anything at all!) Synonyms and other verbs may sometimes work,
CF | but they're much more likely to confuse the parser. If you need that
CF | list of verbs again, you can always type COMMANDS to remind yourself.
CF | If you're really stuck, you can simply type HINT and I'll bound back
CF | into view to give you a clue on what to do next. Type ABOUT for
CF | credits and acknowledgements. SAVE, RESTORE, RESTART, QUIT, and UNDO
CF | commands are also available." And with that, Tonya bounded away
CF | into the underbrush.

CF | The forest opened up into a small clearing here, with exits in all

CF | | ||
CF | The girl in the red cloak was here, picking some wildflowers and
CF | putting them in her basket. "Good day, Mr. Wolf," she nodded to me.
CF | | ||
CF | You see officer, I am somewhat well-known in this local area of the
CF | forest. Besides being a wolf of dashing features and stunning
CF | intellect (as you can clearly surmise), I am a renowned home and
CF | flooring inspector who regularly makes house calls to ensure all
CF | intelligent creatures' abodes are up to safety code. I had assisted

CF | "Yee-haw, that yellow-bellied carpetbagger! This'll teach that outlaw

CF | | ||
CF | "Heigh-ho, who does he think he is? Going about calling himself an

CF | "Is it not obvious, brothers?" explained the third pig

CF | Small Pond (in the rope trap)
CF | A small pond kissed the gentle forest sky here. A small cottage lay a

CF | | ||
CF | A bored-looking cat was here, licking its fur idly.

CF | | ||
CF | I pulled on the rope trap with my teeth and, surprisingly, it
CF | unravelled fairly easily and I landed on my feet unharmed. But
CF | unfortunately, I was about to have bigger problems. I heard frantic
CF | drums from the forest, and then along came the same hunter who had
CF | murdered the old woman, as well as you, sir, an officer of the local
CF | police. And as you well know, the hunter was now wielding a rifle.

CF | "Wait!" shouted the boy suddenly. "Don't hurt him! He may have done
CF | wrong, but he doesn't deserve to die." I rather admired the silly
CF | little boy for his bravery, but didn't think you men would have put
CF | much stock in the heart of a child. But as you know, you raised your
CF | hands, and coaxed the murderous hunter into dropping his weapon. And
CF | before I knew it, I was "humanely" placed into the back of the
CF | hunter's truck, who was supposed to follow your squad car to the
CF | county jail. I cooperated, I did. But that foul hunter's plans were
CF | more sinister than you had anticipated...
CF | | ||
CF | Trunk of the Truck | ||
CF | All at once the truck came to a stop. The hunter got out of the car,
