ClubFloyd Transcript:
Late Night at the Mall by Johan Berntsson
As played on ifMUD on January 12, 2025

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Late Night at the Mall written by Johan Berntsson. It was released in PunyComp 2024, in which it took 4th Place. It was also an entrant in the Short Games Showcase 2024. You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

CF | You're just another teenager killing time at the Pleasant Ridge Mall,
CF | where you've spent way too many quarters on arcade games. The final
CF | "closing time" announcement echoed through the halls over an hour ago,
CF | but you didn't notice. Too many lives left on your high score run.
CF |
CF | By the time you look up, the mall is deserted. The lights are dimmed,
CF | the gates pulled down over store entrances. A sudden realization hits
CF | you: you've been locked in.

CF ] Instructions
CF |
CF | Text adventure games are played by typing in commands using natural
CF | language that describe the player's actions in the game world. These
CF | commands might include movements, such as "go north" or "climb tree,"
CF | as well as interactions with objects and characters, such as "take
CF | sword" or "talk to wizard." The game responds to these commands with
CF | descriptions of the game world, characters, and objects, and presents
CF | the player with choices or challenges to overcome.
CF |
CF | Explore the game world and interact with its inhabitants. It's
CF | important to pay attention to the game's responses and descriptions,
CF | as these will provide clues and hints for how to progress through the
CF | game.
CF |
CF | Don't forget to examine everything, and to draw a map.

CF | Food Court
CF | The food court is a cavernous space that now lies eerily quiet. The
