ClubFloyd Transcript:
Wild West by Bonaventura Di Bello, Garry Francis, and Gianluca Girelli
As played on ifMUD on July 6, 2025

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Wild West written by by Bonaventura Di Bello, Garry Francis, and Gianluca Girelli. It is a western game entered in ParserComp 2025, placement to be determined as of the time of this transcript. It is part one of the Kenneth Johnson 2025 remake series. (This is an enhanced version of the semi-graphic Italian adventure Kenneth Johnson: Wild West by Bonaventura Di Bello. This version has been translated to English and rewritten for a modern audience with the original author's permission. The new version includes many enhancements that weren't in the original.) You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing this game, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played this game, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

Pinkunz says, "Hello everyone."
jenrexrode says, "sounds like a good turnout today."
DavidW says, "hi Jacquelin, Pinkunz, and Roger"
DavidW says, "hi jen"
jenrexrode has arrived. Jacqueline says, "omg it's a party"
DavidW says, "snrk"
Pinkunz says, "I do want to apologize for ADRIFT."
Pinkunz says, "Read the transcript recently."
Pinkunz says, "Y'all didn't have a great time, lmao."
DavidW says, "oh, we managed."
Jacqueline says, "We got by."
DavidW asks, "That was the one with the fidget spinner in space, the crate, and the tether of guess-the-verb, correct?"
Jacqueline says, "I mean, we just kind of floated along with things."
Jacqueline says (to DW), "Yeah"
Pinkunz says, "It's pretty painful looking back. Fwiw, I've gotten much better at flattening out and testing for guess the verbs."
Pinkunz says, "Also, you are supposed to die when you run out of Oxygen. The ever dimishing, yet never quite gone O2 was a bug."
Jacqueline says, "ha"
DavidW says, "oh really"
Jacqueline) Pinkunz says, "You were supposed to die. So sorry you didn't. That was a bug."
DavidW says, "Zeno's oxygen supply."
Pinkunz says, "Yep. There's a whole selection of 4 different death scenes picked at random, because I thought people might die often."
DavidW asks, "Speaking of dying often, should we pick a game?"
Teaspoon asks, "how about the Wild West game?"
Jacqueline is, as usual, here to experience whatever the people want.
DavidW says, "I think we can assume that any game I added to the list is one I'm okay with."
Jacqueline says, "I'm good with the game Teaspoon desires."
Jacqueline says, "I'll play anything Amanda Walker releases."
Pinkunz says, "Same, I'm happy with Teaspoon's choice."
Teaspoon says, "cool beans"
DavidW asks, "So, Wild West?"
Jacqueline says, "mmhmm"
Pinkunz gives a thumbs up
DavidW says (to ClubFloyd), "load sleepmask wildwest"

CF | In the years following the American Civil War, you lead a simple life
CF | as a cowboy. Despite the low wage, you scrimp and save and manage to
CF | buy a small ranch near Tucson, Arizona, where you live with your wife
CF | Sarah and daughter Betty. You dream of a bright future for your
CF | daughter and work hard every day to earn the money needed to provide
CF | her with a good education.
CF |
CF | Then, one day, your peaceful existence is shattered when Pablo Cortez
CF | and his gang raid your ranch on their return to Nogales after a
CF | robbery in Tucson. They shoot you in the head and leave you for dead.
CF | Luckily for you, the wound is superficial, but, when you come to, you
CF | discover that your life savings have been stolen, and Sarah and Betty
CF | have been kidnapped. You dress your wound and quickly recover,
CF | determined to find Sarah and Betty.
CF |
CF | A few hours later, you're in hot pursuit of Cortez's gang. In
CF | retrospect, this was a stupid thing to do on your own. Halfway through
CF | the desert, your horse dies from the heat and exertion. You're now by
CF | yourself, on foot, and your horse lays dead at your feet.
CF |
CF | This is a life or death situation. Despite the odds, you must press on
CF | if you want to see your family alive again, but consider every move
CF | carefully, as the Wild West is a deadly and unforgiving place.

CF | wonder whether this might be a crater left by an ancient meteorite.

CF | buy a small ranch near Tucson, Arizona, where you live with your wife
CF | Sarah and daughter Betty. You dream of a bright future for your
CF | daughter and work hard every day to earn the money needed to provide

CF | Then, one day, your peaceful existence is shattered when Pablo Cortez

CF | > ABOUT
CF |
CF | This game is an enhanced, text-only port of the semi-graphic Italian
CF | adventure 'Kenneth Johnson: Wild West' by Bonaventura Di Bello. It was
CF | originally written with The Quill and Illustrator and published by
CF | Edizioni Hobby S.r.l. on the cover tape of 'Epic 3000', no. 7,
CF | December 1986 (for the ZX Spectrum) and 'Explorer', no. 7, May 1987
CF | (for the Commodore 64 and MSX).
CF |
CF | The data was extracted from the C64 version using UnQuill, translated
CF | to English and rewritten for a modern audience with the original
CF | author's permission. The new version includes many enhancements that
CF | weren't in the original. The coding was done using Inform 6 and the
CF | PunyInform library.
CF |
CF | Original concept, game design and coding by Bonaventura Di Bello with
CF | technical collaboration from Max Di Bello.
CF | English translation by Gianluca Girelli.
CF | Game redesign and coding by Gianluca Girelli with assistance from
CF | Garry Francis.
CF | Play testing by Garry Francis, Ruggero Simoncelli, Piergiorgio
CF | D'Errico, Jade, improvmonster, Robert Eggleston, and RJ Kowalski.
