ClubFloyd Transcript:
Desperados by Bonaventura Di Bello, Garry Francis, and Gianluca Girelli
As played on ifMUD on July 20, 2025

The idea behind ClubFloyd is that each week at a pre-arranged time, a group of people meet online to cooperatively play a game of interactive fiction.

Below is a transcript of Desperados written by Bonaventura Di Bello, Garry Francis, and Gianluca Girelli. It is a western game entered in ParserComp 2025, placement to be determined. It is part three of the Kenneth Johnson 2025 remake series. (This is an enhanced version of the semi-graphic Italian adventure Kenneth Johnson: Desperados by Bonaventura Di Bello. This version has been translated to English and rewritten for a modern audience with the original author's permission. The new version includes many enhancements that weren't in the original.) You can learn more about the game, including how to download it, by visiting the IFDB.

WARNING! Below you will find a transcript of people playing these games, and it goes without saying that the transcript is full of spoilers. So, if you've never played these games, and think you might like to at some point, I do not recommend reading any further. Instead, you might want to return to the interactive fiction page.

#ClubFloyd Discussion

DavidW says, "hi Jacqueline. hi jen."
Jacqueline says, "Howdy."
jenrexrode says, "hi DW"
DavidW says, "hi Roger."
Roger says, "howdy cowpokes"
jenrexrode says, "hi roger"
Jacqueline asks, "So... should we just finish out the three-parter?"
DavidW says, "That was my plan unless there's another one that pre-empts it."
jenrexrode says, "yes"
Jacqueline says, "Nah, sounds good."
DavidW says, "oh, by the way, there was a new version of Tin Star released, last week's game? The version we played wasn't intended to be the finished version."
Jacqueline says, "oh. Huh."
DavidW says, "I haven't played v2 of Tin Star yet, but it supposedly fixes many of the problems we had."
Jacqueline asks, "Ah. Maybe I should put some sort of a disclaimer on that transcript?"
Jacqueline asks, "Is the game we were planning to play today in a similar boat?"
DavidW says, "I added a comment after the transcript."
DavidW says, "Desperados seems to be unchanged. Last updated 23 days ago."
Jacqueline says, "Oh, at the bottom in the Discord stuff"
DavidW says, "yes, Discord comment."
Jacqueline says, "Okay. I'll take a look later and maybe move that up to the top, which people are more inclined to read."
DavidW says, "yeah, that would be good, please, thanks"
DavidW says, "When should we start? I don't see Jade or Teaspoon yet."
DavidW says, "asparagus has already played it."
Jacqueline says, "Yeah, I feel we should start. I have a call I promised I'd make when we're done today, so I have a bit of a hard stop."
DavidW says, "okay"
DavidW says (to ClubFloyd), "load sleepmask desperados"

CF | In the days when the Wild West was roamed by bandits and murderers,
CF | lawmen had a lot to deal with. Honest sheriffs and brave rangers
CF | tracked outlaws over wild terrain, but very often they had to stop at
CF | the Mexican border, because they had no jurisdiction in Mexico.
CF |
CF | Countless gangs of bandits used this to their advantage. They would
CF | cross the border to rob and kill in the southern states, then return
CF | to Mexico to spend their stolen loot.
CF |
CF | In your role as the sheriff of Tucson, Arizona, you had experienced
CF | this humiliating situation many times, but this time was different.
CF | Manolo Ramirez and his gang had attacked a small community of
CF | settlers, kidnapped the girls and killed everyone else. That day, you
CF | decided that jurisdictional boundaries shouldn't be used to allow
CF | these criminals to get away with murder. There comes a time when
CF | humanity, compassion and justice must prevail.
CF |
CF | So, you left your tin star on your office desk and entrusted the care
CF | of the town to your deputy. You were soon in hot pursuit of Ramirez
CF | and his gang.
CF |
CF | The first three days of your search lead to nothing but dead ends. On
CF | the fourth day, your horse was spooked by a rattlesnake and galloped
CF | off, leaving you alone on foot without any supplies, apart from your
CF | weapons. Tired, and low on ammunition, you trudged on until you
CF | reached the outskirts of a small village, but there was no sign of
CF | life. Normally, there would be dogs and chickens and the children
CF | would run out to meet a stranger. You had a horrible feeling that the
CF | desperados had been here and the hoof tracks attested to that.
CF |
CF | As you approach the village, your nostrils are accosted by the stench
CF | of death and decay. You are now sure that Ramirez's gang had once
CF | again ravaged a small, defenceless community. It's time for this to
CF | end once and for all. It's time to track down these murderers and make
CF | them pay!

CF | Trail from Desert
CF | You're on a dusty trail that runs from the desert in the east to a
CF | Mexican village in the west. The untracked desert extends to the north
CF | and south of the trail. The sun beats down on you, so going back
CF | towards the desert is not an option, as it would put your life in
CF | danger.
CF |
CF | You can see a wooden sign here.
